AccountEdge Pro and AccountEdge NE (macOS 10.15+): Crash Causes & Solutions

Cause: AccountEdge crashes due to an AccountEdge Print Driver error

Solution: If AccountEdge Pro/NE crashes when attempting to print a document, use the following steps to resolve.

  1. Click on Setup > Preferences > Report & Forms in the upper toolbar.
  2. Uncheck “I Use the AccountEdge Print Driver.
  3. Restart AccountEdge Pro/NE and perform the print function.

Cause: AccountEdge Crashes when printing a custom form

Solution: If AccountEdge crashes when attempting to print anything that uses a custom form, typically, the crash is the result of an irregular font or format. To resolve this issue:

  1. Recreate the custom form, using an AccountEdge sample form as the template.
  2. Try a different custom form.

Cause: AccountEdge Crashes when printing a report

Solution: If AccountEdge crashes during the printing of a report, check the following options:

  1. Click on Setup > Preferences > Report & Forms in the upper toolbar.
  2. Uncheck “I Use the AccountEdge Print Driver”.
  3. Restart AccountEdge Pro/NE and perform the print function.

If the above step does not resolve the issue, reset the format of the report to the default format.  To reset to the default format, follow the steps below:

  • Choose “Default” on the Format screen

  • Proceed with printing of the desired report.

 

Cause: Fatal Error box displays upon exit from AccountEdge Pro/NE

Solution:  Follow the steps below in order

 

  1. Force quit AccountEdge Pro/NE
  2. Restart AccountEdge Pro/NE
  3. Click on AccountEdge Pro/NE in the upper left corner of toolbar
  4. Choose Check for Updates
  5. Download and install any available updates (click on AccountEdge top left corner next to the Apple logo > check for updates and install)
  6. Resume normal operations.
