Link AccountEdge and Shopify

NOTE: Depending on your situation (i.e.: have you been using AccountEdge for years, are you new to both AccountEdge and Shopify, have you been using them separately) the instructions for setting up Shopify and AccountEdge properly are different. This page has instructions for each different scenario.

Link AccountEdge Pro to your Shopify Web Store

  1. Verify you're running AccountEdge Pro 2018 or newer with the latest updates installed. The 2018 version is required in order to link your Shopify store with AccountEdge.
    If you are not running at least AccountEdge Pro 2018, you'll need to upgrade. Contact Customer Care at 800.322.6962.
  2. Open up your default web browser and log into your Shopify store with your Admin email and password.
  3. In AccountEdge Pro, select Setup > Web Store, and enter your Shopify Store Address in the Web Store Setup window
  4. Click Link Web Store
  5. Follow the prompt to log in to Shopify (if needed) and click Install App. This will install the Shopify Connector that will allow AccountEdge Pro to sync with Shopify.
  6. Your web browser should take you to an AccountEdge page which will contain an Authorization Code that you will copy and paste into AccountEdge.
  7. Back in AccountEdge Pro paste the code into window asking for your Authorization Code.
  8. Once linked, the following administration tasks are available:
    • Store Details
      • Visit Web Store: click to access your web store as your customers will
      • Configure Web Store: click to manage and configure your web store
      • Unlink Web Store: disconnect Shopify from AccountEdge Pro
      • View Shopify Logs: see a list of files containing transaction download information, warning and error messages
    • Selling Details
      • Select item(s) to sell: From the list of AccountEdge Pro items that are marked as 'I Sell', indicate which items to sell in your Shopify store
      • In AccountEdge Pro you can provide two different item descriptions: one for AccountEdge Pro usage and one for Web Store usage. You can indicate you want to use the AccountEdge Pro item description if no Web tore description is provided
      • In AccountEdge you can decide whether you want to bring descriptions from Shopify in to AccountEdge (if you have extremely long descriptions in Shopify you want to make sure this preference is not checked).
      • When importing order transactions from Shopify to AccountEdge Pro, associate all orders with one unique customer card, which you'll need to select from your AccountEdge cards list, or import customers as individual Customer Cards into AccountEdge Pro
    • Linked Accounts
      • Indicate an account for sales tax collected on Shopify orders, typically a Liability, type Other Liability account
      • Define your linked accounts for imported Shopify items that are bought and sold see Set Accounts for Shopify Items
    • Sync Options
      • You can set AccountEdge Pro to sync automatically, and on specific events, or that you wish to sync manually
      • Click Sync: Send new and updated web store items to Shopify. Import newly created items from Shopify
      • Click Force Sync: Send all selected AccountEdge Pro web store items to Shopify, not just item changes
  9. Complete the Shopify Web Store configuration
    • Selling Details
      • Create one unique customer card to handle all web sales where a customer does not use a unique card, those sales to 'generic' customers will be posted to this one card
      • Select the AccontEdge Pro Inventory items to sell on Shopify
      • Indicate what description to use on the Shopify Store
      • Select Customer Card handling, and include the one, unique card you created (regardless of your selection)
    • Linked Accounts
    • Sync Options
      • Set your sync options. Review the Sync Options FAQ for details
  10. Click Close when you're finished configuring your AccountEdge Pro
